A mammoth fire raged in an abandoned commercial building near midnight this morning while dozens of patrons grooved to live funk music at the Raven Lounge at Chene and Frederick on Detroit's east side, Steve Neavling reports at the Motor City Muckraker blog.
Concerned about burning embers and sizzling electrical lines, firefighters hosed down the adjacent Raven Lounge while music blared inside.
It was the third blaze within 30 minutes in the same area. Three people died in a pair of nearby house fires.
