Clearly people have met partners on online dating sites and formed relationships, including marriage.

But here's a reminder that not everyone online is a great candidate for a relationship.

A prosecution witness in the murder trial of Bob Bashara testified Wednesday that she met handyman Joseph Gentz on a dating website, George Hunter reports in The Detroit News. You might recall Gentz pleaded guilty to murdering Bob Bashara's wife, Jane Bashara, and said Bob hired him to do so. Bashara is on trial for allegedly murdering his wife.

Lorna Beth Riikonen testified in Wayne County Circuit Court that she met Gentz on a dating website three years ago, and he showed up unannounced at her bagel shop job in December, 2011.

She testified that Gentz told her he was being paid to kill someone named "Basher Basher."

Riikonen said after meeting Gentz on a dating website, they talked on the phone a few times before he appeared at her job at Einstein Bros Bagels at Metro Airport, The News says.

Riikonen gave him a ride home, and as they talked, he told her someone wanted to pay him to murder a person, according to the paper.

"He said somebody had offered him some money to take someone out....to put a hit on somebody," Riikonen said. When she asked who the targeted victim was, the man said: "Basher, Basher."

Probably suffice to say the relationship did not blossom.

Michael F. Copado, a Facebook follower of Deadline Detroit, commented on the story about Gentz mentioning to Riikonen about someone wanting to pay him to murder a person.

So was that supposed to impress her? I've been on a few first dates in my time, and I have to say that would probably NOT be something that I would bring up...until the third date maybe.
