Sure, it's just a daytime purse snatching at a shop with an open back door. No one was injured or wiped out.

But a Metro Detroiter who clocks in at a dry cleaner to earn a modest weekly paycheck lost some cash, perhaps her phone and keys, and the time it took to call credit card companies and also a bank if an ATM card or checkbook was in the red handbag grabbed on a recent Wednesday afternoon.

So we post these two surveillance camera stills released by Allen Park Police, showing the tanned man with brown-gray hair, a gray mustache, khaki shorts and a striped gray shirt who was caught on camera as he spots and grabs the purse from a break table chair at One-Hour Martinizing, 7210 Allen Rd.

He snuck in through a rear employee door at 12:45 p.m. June 21 and committed "a total opportunity crime," Detective Jim Thorburn tells reporter Jim Kasuba of The News-Herald.

The larceny investigator welcomes tips at (313) 386-6377 if the noontime suburban crook looks familiar.
