Pot smokers can chill. Things are looking good.
A majority of likely Michigan voters favor a recreational marijuana initiative on Nov. 6 ballots, a Detroit News-WDIV poll shows.
More than 56 percent of respondents said they support marijuana legalization, compared with 38 percent opposed, Jonathan Oosting of The News reports. Only 6 percent of voters were undecided in the poll, which had a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Conversely, voter sentiments about Proposal 2, which challenges redistricting and would create a commission to draw new political boundaries every 10 years instead of lawmakers, is mixed. Roughly 38 percent of voters are supportive, 31 percent are opposed and 31 percent of remain undecided nine weeks from the election.
On marijuana, pollster Richard Czuba of the Lansing-based Glengariff Group Inc., tells the paper:
“What’s interesting is how consistent these numbers have been over two years. There are hardly any undecided people left on this issue. It’s baked into the electorate.”
