Popular cafe and bakery Red Hook celebrates the grand opening of its third metro Detroit location today, at 2761 E. Jefferson Ave. along the Dennis Archer Greenway.

The business began a little over a decade ago with a Ferndale location and expanded to Detroit's West Village in 2014. The new location near the Riverfront, called The Red Hook Greenway, was one of two owner Sandi Heaselgrave tells Model D she had planned to open, but the pandemic forced her to scale back that plan.

“This greenway has a beautiful bike path and I thought it would lend itself to a lot of passers-by, a lot of foot traffic — and especially in the summer,” she told the outlet.

Each Red Hook location has been operating as a walk-up window and offers some outdoor seating. An indoor reopening is TBD, she says.

The new location's opening celebration runs from 2-4 p.m. Friday.
