The Red Sox win enough without cheating. They have the most wins in the major leagues with 43.

But on Thursday night, while trailing the Tigers, they decided they needed an edge, so they apparently were stealing the pitching signs, according to a report in the Detroit News.

Reliever Joe Jimenez found himself in a bases-loaded, one-out mess in the eighth. The Red Sox were sitting on his off-speed pitches like they knew they were coming, writes Chris McCosky of the News.

"We know what goes on in this game with men on base," Tigers Manager Ron Gardenhire said. "You've got to change your signs up. So we changed some things."

Jimenez pitched out of a jam. The Tigers won 7-2.

The Tigers are 30-34 and four games out of first place in the Central Division.
