Red Wings Make Playoffs Despite 3-2 Loss to Rangers

It's not exactly how the Red Wings wanted to make the playoffs -- losing to the New York Rangers 3-2 on Saturday afternoon.

But the Ottawa Senators beat the Boston Bruins on Saturday 6-1, which opened the gate for the Red Wings to make the playoffs for the 25th season in a row.

Not a perfect scenario. But let's face it, not a perfect season.

So here we have it. The Pistons clinched a playoff spot on Friday night, beating the Washington Wizards.

The Red Wings making the playoffs for the 25th straight year is obviously good news for the organization. Good news for the fans. And good news for hockey bars in town like Bookies and the Anchor Bar.

The Wings battled the Rangers in New York's Madison Square Garden. it was 1-1 with less than 6 minutes to play when the Rangers scored, making it 2-1. The Wings pulled goalie Jimmy Howard and the Rangers scored on an empty net, making it 3-1.

Then on a power play, the Wings scored, making it 3-2. But with so little time left, the Wings couldn't tie it up.
