It's no secret the Red Wings weren't very good this year. It's the first  time in 35 years the team missed post-season play in consecutive seasons

Still, the Red Wings have decided to bring back Coach Jeff Blashill for the fourth year of his four-year contract.

“I’ve decided I’m going to bring back Jeff Blashill for another year,” General Manager Ken Holland said, according to a report by Helen St. James of the Detroit Free Press.. “I thought the team played hard until the finish. I’m hoping that two, three, four young players in our system make the team. He did a good job with the young players in Grand Rapids when he was a coach there. I thought this year, you look at the impact of Tyler Bertuzzi, and Dylan Larkin and the development and the importance they had on the team, they improved as players.”

Blashill said he’s evaluating his staff.
