Candidate Perry Johnson
Republican businessman Perry Johnson of Bloomfield Hills, a self-described “quality guru,” announced Monday on X that he is running for governor of Michigan for a second time.
“My business experience brought quality and efficiency to help save the auto industry,” he wrote. “We can deliver better services at lower cost by running state government with efficiency, accountability, and a results-driven mindset.”
Johnson advises businesses on improving quality.
He joins a primary field that includes former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox; U.S. Rep. John James; former Michigan House Speaker Tom Leonard; and Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt.
Johnson ran in 2022 but was kicked off the ballot after hiring a firm that submitted too many invalid signatures for his petitions. He also briefly ran for president in 2023.
I am running for Governor of Michigan.
