The suspension of four Detroit police officers is getting praise from residents and officials, who feel the department is serious about weeding out corruption, the Detroit news reports.

George Hunter of the Detroit News writes that the four officers were suspended after two separate investigations, including a federal probe into alleged wrongdoing in the department’s disbanded Narcotics Section.

“I’m happy this investigation is coming to a head,” Bell said.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig disbanded the drug unit because of concerns about the operation, including the way that drugs were handled.
