Running 20 marathons is pretty impressive, period.

But doing it as a blind marathoner is a whole other thing.

Michigan Supreme Court Justice Richard Bernstein, who turns 42 Wednesday, doesn't let the challenge of blindness hold him back. On Sunday, he was in New York for the 20th marathon of his life. That's 20 more than I've run.

He posts on Facebook:

I'm proud to say that I completed my 20th marathon today in New York City. I was incredibly fortunate to be accompanied by 5 tremendous guides (pictured alongside), all of whom possess levels of positivity, selflessness, compassion, and generosity that far exceed the limitations of proper description.

If not for the encouragement and assistance of these 5 wonderful individuals, and for the support of Achilles International—the organization that established and cultivated my fondness for running & athletics—the dream of completing my 20th marathon would not have been possible. I also would like to thank one of my guides, Natalie DiBlasio from USA Today (pictured right of me), for her coverage & pacing of our run, and for the photo.
