Wayne County Circuit Judge Maria Oxholm ruled Tuesday that Gov. Rick Snyder's emails regarding the selection of the Detroit's emergency manager are protected by executive privilege. Highland Park activist Robert Davis had sued for access to the record, claiming he believes Snyder violated the Open Meetings Act. Davis also wants a list of prospective candidates.
WDIV: Oxholm can still decide to release a list of the candidates separately. She is expected to make that decision later Tuesday afternoon.
Attorney General Bill Schuette had filed an emergency motion on Snyder's behalf seeking an intervention in the lawsuit to prevent the information from being released.
Davis believes mayoral candidate Mike Duggan was primary candidate for the job that ultimately went to Kevyn Orr.
