Night shifts are risky for taxi operators in Detroit, and Fox 2 reports that another one didn't go home Thursday.
An early morning shooting has left a cab driver dead and a woman critically injured just hours before Mayor Dave Bing's expected statement on the city's crime statistics for 2012.
The male driver was shot Thursday in his cab during an attempted robbery on the 19000 block of Sunderland on the city's west side. A female passenger was also shot. She was taken to Sinai Grace Hospital and is reportedly in critical condition.
The gunman is at large, Roop Raj of Fox 2 says.
Cab drivers also were killed in Detroit robberies in September and October.
