Rocky Peanut Co. has closed in Ferndale.
The closing of the distributor of nuts and fruits does not impact Rocky's Historic Eastern Market store, which is operated by members of the same family but is a separate business entity, John Gallagher of the Free Press reports.
The Freep writes:
Both the wholesale company in Ferndale that is closing and the retail outlet in Eastern Market that remains open trace their lineage to 1931, when founder Jack Russo sold produce door-to-door off the back of a truck. Various family members ran parts of the operation in years to come.
