A Roseville man died early Monday after he was trapped in his burning house that contained cases of fireworks, which contributed to the blaze, Roseville fire officials told the Macomb Daily.

The victim was identified by relatives as William “Billy” Tavernier, a 32-year-old father of three who had only moved into the home on Pattow, near Frazho and Interstate 94, a few weeks ago while going through a divorce.

“He was an awesome brother growing up, just a heck of a guy,” said his younger brother, Dan Tavernier.

According to Roseville fire officials, numerous neighbors called 911 about 1:49 a.m. Monday to report flames coming from the small house and the sounds of multiple fireworks exploding.
