A home used to be there.

Life is funny, you know? One minute you're a homeowner, the next you're holding a mortgage on a pile of rubble, as a Ray Township man discovered after a runaway semi plowed through his house and reduced it to splinters Wednesday.

Fox 2 Detroit and other media sources have video of what happens when a heavy vehicle has a tire blowout, veers into oncoming traffic and then into the house owned by Charles Vanfleteren, who was thankfully away at the time.

"A cat couldn't have moved fast enough" to get out of the way, Vanfleteren told the station.

No one was seriously injured in the crash, including the driver of a pickup truck the truck clipped on its way through the house.

Vanfleteren's house sits -- sat -- adjacent to a cemetery. The crash also destroyed some headstones.
