Ryan Gosling is preparing for his directorial debut, "How To Catch A Monster," and this week he’s continued rounding out the cast.

Christina Hendricks of "Mad Men" has already signed on to star in the film as a single mom of two who works at a fetish club and is “swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld,” reports On Location Vacations.

Two more actors have now joined the cast, Eva Mendes (Gosling’s real-life girlfriend) who will play a prominent figure at the fetish club and Doctor Who star Matt Smith who will play the male lead.

"How To Catch A Monster" will begin shooting in Detroit in May.

According to the film's casting website, "Monster" is written and directed by Gosling,  and it weaves elements of fantasy noir, horror and suspense into a modern-day fairytale. Set against the surreal dreamscape of a vanishing city  -- Detroit" -- Billy, a single mother of two, is swept into a macabre and dark fantasy underworld while Bones, her 18-yr-old son, discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.
