Sam Riddle, the Detroit political consultant, takes the pulse of Detroit politics and concludes "Detroit election results are trending D-U-G-G-A-N."

As Riddle also wrote, "Duh!"

Writing in his "Detroit Raw" column in the Michigan Citizen, the weekly newspaper in which it is Week 19 of the Occupation,* Riddle sums up write-in candidate Mike Duggan's trouncing of Benny Napoleon as "a well-funded mother of all literacy efforts" that "paid off in spades."

"Ahhhh, the sweet taste of affordable democracy. What a team effort! The mainstream media, Penske, Snyder, rogue UAW members, hipsters, Gilbertites, “sandwich signs don’t dehumanize me” poll workers et al. GOTV dollars well spent. Celebrate people!"

Riddle dissects Napoleon's campaign -- and his campaign persona -- with a stiletto:

"You must let people know who you are and where you stand on issues, Benny, as you expose the myth of turnaround. Feigned arrogance as cover for a campaign totally devoid of substance will make you a Black General Custer at The Little Big Horn on the Boulevard. It’s time to dump your kitchen cabinet and get some field hands Mister Napoleon.

"Still, it will take a tremendous effort for Napoleon to overcome Duggan momentum by November. Victory will only be achieved for Napoleon by making sure that the words of the Negro EM proxy of Gov. Snyder ring out: 'You are dumb and lazy!'"

But, if you're Napoleon, you can take Riddle's advise with a grain of salt. In a column before the primary, he predicted Duggan would fail to finish in one of the top two spots.

"Unless Janice Winfrey does a sequel to her 59.941 absentee ballots whack job, Duggan should not survive the primary," he wrote.
