Candace Streng of Brighton is charged with faking a cancer diagnosis to raise more than $30,000 on a GoFundMe page. And after authorities shut the page down, she allegedly asked people to donate money via PayPal, Fox 2 reports.

Streng, 33, was charged Friday in Livingston Ciunty with using false pretenses to obtain $20,000 or more but less than $50,000 with intent to cheat or defraud, and using a computer to commit a crime.

She was given $200,000 cash surety bond. Her preliminary exam is April 24.

Streng claimed last fall she was fighting stage 4 breast cancer.

GoFundMe records show 399 people donated $31,645 since April 2017 to the account of Candace Kicks Cance, Erika Erickson of Fox 2 reports.

Police say they have enough evidence that Streng does not have cancer, and prosecutors say the hospital had no records they had been treating her. GoFundMe is refunding donations.
