Being a lawyer for Bobby Ferguson can be hazardous to your health.

For the second time in recent weeks, a lawyer for Bobby Ferguson, a co-defendant in the Kwame Kilpatrick trial, has been rushed off to the hospital. Ferguson has three lawyers.

The latest came Monday morning when lawyer, Susan Van Dusen of Miami, who has represented such notables as New York mob boss John Gotti, tripped and hurt her nose just outside the courtroom during a break after cross examining a witness, according to Robert Snell of the Detroit News.

She was taken to the hospital by EMS and court was cancelled for the remainder of the day.

“Ms. Van Dusen had a fall during the break, she’s likely OK but had to go to the hospital,” the judge told jurors before excusing them around 11:10 a.m. “She hit her nose and wasn’t able to continue…," Snell reported.

“We anticipate she will be fine but we want to be cautious and make sure she is OK.”

In October, another Ferguson attorney Gerald Evelyn felt faint and was rushed to the hospital during trial. Court was delayed for two weeks while he recovered.
