U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, the quirky guy with the quirky dad, wants to help Detroit.
Todd Spangler of the Detroit Free Press reports that Rand, who has been mentioned as a presidential candidate in 2016, will unveil a proposal during a speech before the Detroit Economic Club on Friday that calls for lower tax rates for individual income, capital gains and other income in areas where the unemployment rate is higher than the national average.
"We need something dramatic to happen," Paul said in a conference call with reporters this morning, according to the Freep.
You might recall that Rand was the one who said Detroit would get a government bailout "over my dead body."
