Dakota High School
The tragic school shooting in Broward County, Fla., raises concern about potential violence in schools around the country.
At Dakota High School in Macomb Township, sheriff’s deputies patrolled halls following a threat found in a bathroom, The Macomb Daily reports.
The Sheriff's Department posts on Facebook:
Yesterday, 2-15-18, our deputies were informed of a threat to "shoot up the school on 2-16-18" that had been written on a urinal in a bathroom at Dakota High School. Deputies responded and investigated. Over 100 males had been in and out of that bathroom during the school day and nothing further was reported at the time.
The complaint was unfounded, and no persons were named as suspects. Because the date of the written threat was today, extra deputies have been at the school for precautionary measures.
Today, while deputies were at the school, it was reported that a male student in the Dakota 9th Grade Center was overheard stating he had a gun with him. The student is currently being investigated and no gun has been located as of now.
The Macomb County Sheriff's Office will continue to investigate and remain on scene. We do not believe that the two incidents are related at this time. School officials are aware and school is still in regular session. At no point, was there ever a mention of a bomb that we have been informed of.
