As Detroit photographer and videographer Stephen McGee roamed Bell Isle earlier this week, he spotted an American Bald Eagle perched in a tree on the park's southwest side.
He snapped off some shots as the bird took off.
Others have spotted eagles on or above the island, but sightings remain rare.
McGee, who has a variety of local and national clients, said he was on the island shooting a film that he describes as an ode to Detroit. (This week also marks the first days of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources' stewardship of Belle Isle.)
Born in Virginia and raised in California, McGee said his project is "a visually epic/cinematic bookmark for the time we are in here in Detroit. I've been filming here for nine years and will finish the filming this year."
