What better way to try and convey to the nation just how dangerous Detroit is?
Actor and rapper T.I. and wife, Tameka "Tiny" Harris, also a singer, guaranteed their "safe travels" over the holiday by rolling into a Detroit club with security guards packing assault rifles, writes TMZ on its website. The guards also sported bullet proof vests.
The rapper and his wife, along with others in their group, traveled to Touch Lounge on Joy Road on Detroit's west side on 4th of July, TMZ reports:
We're told the security team was provided as part of their appearance deal. If you're wondering ... Michigan's an open-carry state, and this isn't the first time we've seen the big guns out in clubs there.
Earlier in the evening, Tameka Harris was performing at Chene Park for a reunion concert for her group, Xscape, when her husband surprised the crowd by dropping in and joining her. They both hail from Georgia.
Brian McCollom of the Detroit Free Press writes about the T.I. and Tiny:
The couple, who opened their lives to the public with the VH1 reality show "T.I. and Tiny: The Family Hustle," split in December. They've since been immersed in an on-again-off-again drama, much of which has played out on social media.
