Gov. Rick Snyder doesn't want to get into the mud when it comes to this year's presidential campaign.

Lansing veteran reporter Tim Skubick writes in MLive that when Vice President Biden came to town on Sunday, state GOP chair Robert Schostak issued a press release, taking some shots at the Obama administration.

He wrote: “President Obama’s policies have failed....Obama told job creators that they didn’t build their business, someone else made that happen.”

Skubick notes that Snyder issued a statement only referring to “short sighted policies out of Washington.”

Skubick writes:

Heck, that was so generic it could have applied to anybody including Democrats AND Republicans.
The governor mentioned Washington two more times but even with a microscope you couldn’t find Mr. Obama’s name anywhere.
And you never will. This governor wants to cooperate with the White House and that's hard to do if you pile on like all the other R's in the state.
