Now comes the weekend of cheer, the World Series of holidays -- with gifts, drinks and merriment for many. If you're still looking to do something or impress out-of-town guests, here are choices.

Friday

Pistons: The team has a winning record, though some games it's hard to tell. And if you haven't seen the new Little Caesars Arena, it's worth checking out. Friday. Pistons play the New York Knicks at 7 p.m. Tickets: $20 to $242.

Jazz singer: Karen Marie Richardson, a singer, songwriter and actress, celebrates the centenary of Ella Fitzgerald's birth with Detroit Institute of Arts performances in Kresge Court at 7 and 8:30 p.m. Free with museum entry. She currently stars in and off-Broadway jazz musical, "Sleep No More." 

Saturday 

Insane Clown Posse: Shunned by mainstream music players like MTV, the duo has amassed millions of fans endearingly called “Juggalos." 7 p.m.. Majestic Theatre, 4140 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Tickets: $20-$25.

Empty Houses: A soulful Detroit trio that merges soul, doo-wop, funk and indie rock. 8 p.m. El Club, 4141 W. Vernor Hwy., Detroit. Tickets: $10.

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra: Over 20-plus years, TSO has become a critically-acclaimed, multi-platinum, musical powerhouse. Winter tours are a multi-generation holiday tradition. 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Little Caesars Arena. Tickets: $52 to $556.

Saturday and Sunday

Guardian Building Tour: Built in 1929 and designed by Wire Rowland, this impressive building at 500 Griswold in downtown Detroit is worth marveling at. 11 a.m., free. Starts at the Pure Detroit store inside. 

Friday-Sunday

ELF The Musical: The Broadway musical is a funny tale of Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole. Unaware that he is human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. Fox Theatre. Friday, 7:30 p.m.;  Saturday, 10 a.m., 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.; Sunday, 1 p.m. Tickets: $35-$75.
