Stealing is bad. Stealing from the poor and from charities is beyond that.
A prominent former Wayne County judge and his wife are charged with embezzling funds from a Detroit nonprofit organization where he worked, Matt Helms of the Detroit Free Press writes.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office announced Friday that Dalton Roberson Jr., 42 , and his wife, Jakeema Roberson, 41, face charges of diverting $77,000 from Michigan Community Resources, a group that provides legal assistance and other support services to nonprofit community groups that serve low-income individuals and communities, the Freep reports. The couple is charged with opening fraudulent bank accounts from 2012-14 in a scheme to steal the money.
