Jacoby's German Biergarten on Brush Street in downtown Detroit, which has been around since 1904, is under fresh ownership.

After more than 3 1/2 years on market,  the bar and restaurant was sold last month for $790,000, Kirk Pinho of Crain's Detroit Business reports. They buyer is LVT Properties LLC, an investment group registered to Southfield attorney Seth Tompkins, a partner at Sullivan, Ward, Asher & Patton.

Larry Jacob, operating manager for the new team, tells Crain's:

"We intend to keep it the way it is, as far as the heritage of the place. But it needs some improvements.

"Invest in kitchen equipment, bathrooms and doing some upgrades. We are not looking to change it into a hipster place or anything like that . . . same type of food, same type of cocktails."

For the past decade, Jacoby's was owned by Wally Wolf, a Chicago investor.

In September, Jacoby's posted on Facebook:

Jacobys patrons , contrary to any rumors that may be going around Jacobys is not closing. We appreciate your patronage and hope to see you soon! -- Wally, Monica and Geoff
