The climb continues.

Michigan added 5,224 new cases and 49 deaths to its Covid tally Thursday, up from the 4,454 and 16 additional new cases and deaths reported the day before.

Cases have been on the rise since restrictions and guidance surrounding indoor restaurants, bars, schools and other gathering sites began to loosen in February. Thursday's daily added case total is at its highest since early December.

There have been 642,869 known Covid cases in Michigan since the start of the pandemic. Nearly 16,000 people have died.
