A spunky 10-year-old boy from Pinckney helped save his dad's life on Aug. 5  and last night it paid off with an appearance via Skype on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" show on ABC.

A.J. Hieber was playing videos at home when he realized something was wrong.

He went to the bathroom where he found his dad Adam crying, complaining that he had been stung by bees. He's deathly allergic to bee stings. WXZY reported that there was no home phone line.

So A.J. said he hopped on his bike in his underwear and fetched his mom. He said his mom stabbed him with two Epi-Pens, which are used for bee stings, and she called 911.

A.J. appeared with his whole family via Skype on the Kimmel show last night.

When Kimmel asked him if he thought of himself as a hero, he said: "Yes I would."

He added "I call myself Captain Underpants."

Kimmel asked him if he always just wears his underpants around the house. A.J. said yes, to which Kimmel replied: "You're like a middle aged man."
