The Fox Theatre in downtown Detroit goes Hollywood-like July 25. Stars will strut down the red carpet for the premiere of "Detroit," the film on the Detroit 1967 riot and the Algiers Motel.
Attendees are scheduled to include Oscar- winning director Kathryn Bigelow. John Boyega, a.k.a. Finn from "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and Anthony Mackie, the winged Falcon superhero of "Captain America: Civil War," reports Julie Hinds of the Detroit Free Press.
The screening, a rare world premiere held outside the usual New YorkLos Angeles nexus, is bound to be one of the major events tied to the 50th anniversary of Detroit's turbulent summer of 1967, notes Hinds.
No details are released as to whether it's a ticketed event or invite-only.
