Robberies are an everyday occurrence in the city of Detroit.

But when a high-profile person gets robbed, it make the situation seem all the worse, illustrating that anyone can be a victim in a city with too much crime and too few police.

WDIV reported that State Rep. Jimmy Womack of Detroit was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday evening by three armed men after just leaving the corner store near his home around Hamilton and McNichols.

The robbery comes in wake of the robbery and carjacking of well-known Pastor Marvin Winans at a gas station in May.

In Womack's case, he said: “One was here, one was here and one was here, but they all had guns sticking toward my face and head.”

He told WDIV: “I looked him dead in his eyes and said I’m not giving you my car."

He said he recognized one of the robbers, who backed off, but not before robbing him of about $300. And he admits refusing to give up his car may not have been the wisest move.
