The owner of a group home in Clarkston is Caremore Assisted Living, though what state inspectors found makes Careless seem more apt.

Heather Pines in the Oakland suburb was ordered to close after an inquiry that began in May "found numerous violations from staffing levels to resident care," WDIV says. Eleven residents were moved.

Investigators from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs spoke with current and former employees, as well as outside hospice nurses, who said the conditions for some of the residents at Heather Pine were unpleasant.

The report states that facility residents were repeatedly left on the floor after falling out of bed during the midnight staff shift.

Several residents were often left in soiled diapers and conditions for hours, including once when a nurse "observed Resident X lying in bed soaked in urine and feces that had begun to stick to her skin." ...

According to the report, direct-care workers on July 29 failed to notice that a resident in the dining room "had passed away for hours."

The station's post and three and a half-minute video have more disgusting grossness, including "a family of maggots."

Caremore also has assisted living homes in Waterford, Oxford and three other Michigan sites. It blames the violations on employees, Jason Colthorp reports, though its website describes "our loving and attentive caregivers."
