Stella Sossi, whose family has run the iconic Roma Cafe in Eastern Market in Detroit, died Monday at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit, Crain's Detroit Business reports. She was 93.

An obituary on the website of the funeral home of A.H. Peters, says she graduated Southeastern High School in Detroit in 1939 and went on to take classes at Walsh Business School on Broadway in Detroit.

In 1945, Sossi began working as a bookkeeper at the Roma CafĂ©, and a year later, she married Roma Cafe owner Hector Sossi at Holy Family Catholic Church in Detroit. Stella was the office manager at the restaurant until her retirement. Their daughter, Janet Sossi Belcoure, manages the eatery.

The obit  says Sossi was fond of cooking, reading and was devoted to her family.

Her and her husband  were former members of the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club, the Detroit Athletic Club and the Detroit Golf Club.

Stella is survived by her husband of 68 years, Hector; their daughter Janet Belcoure (B.J.); her granddaughter, Jessica Belcoure (fiancé Thomas Marcetti); her sister Concetta Timpa Pop; her niece, Connie Mancini, her nephews, Vincent Timpa and Anthony, Joseph and John Martinico; and extended family: her Brazilian "daughters" Eleni and Eloisa; and the TomHon family.

Visitation for are set for 2-8: p.m. Thursday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods with a 7:00 o'clock scripture service. 

She will lie instate at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack at Overlake Street in St. Clair Shores from 9:30 a.m. Friday until mass begins at 10 a.m.
