Funnyman Stephen Colbert on occasion loves to use Detroit as a punchline.

It's part of his shtick.

On Monday night, during his opening monologue, he talked about the Boston Marathon bombing and how authorities told everyone in Boston to stay inside their homes.

He said it marked " the first time an Amercian city has been completely shut down, if you don’t count Detroit."
