Bernadette Kathryn, 16, of Sterling Heights will  take her finals two weeks early so she can perform in Nashville at various establishments during the Country Music Association Music Fest, June 9-12, the Macomb Daily reports.

For Kathryn, a sophomore at Sterling Heights High School and the Warren Consolidated School of Performing Arts, this will be her fourth year performing at the festival, reports Debra Kaszubski for the Macomb Daily.

The paper reports that Kathryn, one of the youngest members of the Country Music Association, will spend a day during the festival recording a new song in one of Music Row’s iconic studios.

“There are a lot of important people there during the CMA Fest,” Kathryn told the paper. “They are looking for talent, so you never know who is in the crowd. Last year, after a couple of gigs, I was approached by a few different labels. One time, I was standing behind Faith Hill in line to get ice cream.”
