An 18-year-old Oxford High School student will be arraigned Thursday following an incident earlier this week in which he tried to disarm an Oakland County Sheriff's deputy, causing the deputy's gun to go off in the school.

It began on Tuesday afternoon, when the teen -- an online student with school access -- assaulted his ex-girlfriend, reports WXYZ's Brian Abel.

A teacher intervened and the student hit the teacher. The Oakland County Sheriff's department came.

As the deputy was trying to take the student into custody, the student grabbed for his gun in his holster. A round went off, striking the floor and lodging in the wall, the station reports. The gun remained in the holster.

Because of previous incidents, the teen had a written agreement to stay away from his ex-girlfriend.
