Student Dies After Falling from School Roof in Ypsilanti

A student died Wednesday afternoon after falling from the roof onto the sidewalk at Washtenaw International Middle School in Ypsilanti, WDIV reports

It is unclear if the student jumped of fell, WDIV reports. The incident happened around 2:30 p.m.

Superintendent Benjamin Edmondson said the the incident was non-violent in nature, WDIV's Shawn Ley reports.

"We have arranged mental health counselors available to talk with students and staff about normal responses to grief," Edmondson said. "We will not hesitate to employ additional resources as needed from the WISD, City and Sheriff's office as they have already reached out to us."
