Michigan students are getting a new way to report potential school violence, Jake Neher reports from Lansing for Michigan Radio.

Officials plan to create a new anonymous tip-line that would include a mobile app.

Students could call or text OK-TO-SAY, or use the app and include a photo or video.

Neher quotes Lt. Gov. Brian Calley on what prompts the move:

“Students know what's happening in their schools. They need to have a safe venue where they can report. Nobody knows that they reported. . . .

"We know from studies that 81 percent of violence that occurs, somebody other than the perpetrator knew about it ahead of time."
