Though all kinds of high-impact Tigers' action photos are sure to be seen this season, the most popular so far shows six players out of uniform. The group selfie was snapped by Anibal Sanchez as he left the Comerica Park clubhouse with five teammates Sunday night.

"De camino a Pittsburgh" (On the way to Pittsburgh), he posts under it on Instagram.

The 31-year-old pitcher (far right) names just four of his traveling buddies -- J.D. Martinez, Jose Iglesias, Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez.


Monday's starting pitcher for the Tigers posts this on Instagram before leaving Detroit.

It went viral almost as swiftly as a ball off Cabrera's bat, with more than 60,500 clicks by fans on these social media sites:

  • Instagram: 1,658 "likes" on the photographer's original at @anibalsanchez19.
  • Twitter: More than 1,400 "favorites" and over 680 retweets at feeds from the Detroit Tigers and Sanchez.
  • Facebook: Shared more than 5,100 times from the Tigers' and Cabrarea's pages. Also nearly 52,000 "likes" at those two pages and ours.  

"Too much hotness for one pic! Muy caliente," JoAnna Vogt, a 41-year-old fan in Davison, posts on Facebook, expressing the view of more than a few admirers. 

Any attitude that's projected in the image was earned in opening week sweeps of the Twins and Indians to gain a 6-0 record until now. Detroit lost the first of three games at PNC Park, where the Pirates won 5-4 Monday afternoon (Sanchez was the starter).

Detroit News sports columnist Lynn Henning expected an "interesting test" for the visitors in Pennsylvania. "Pirates have power-pitching, speed, dangerous middle order," he tweeted earlier Monday.
