You hate to reap any benefits to the disaster that struck the east coast when Superstorm Sandy came through and reduced the demand for gas.

But the Detroit News reports that gas prices slipped in Michigan during the past week in wake of Sandy.

On the average, gas prices dropped 8 cents in Michigan to $3.41 a gallon and 3 cents in Metro Detroit to $3.42 a gallon.
People have been spending hours in lines waiting for gas in parts of New York and New Jersey.
