Freep: Clearly they were concerned about her behavior, including whether she remained too closely tied to former colleagues in county government and whether she illegally agreed to a contract with the county's Economic Development Growth Engine, known as EDGE, according to the tape, which was obtained by labor activist Robert Davis and provided to the Free Press.
They also didn't like that Mullin wanted to remain on two non-profit boards, though nothing in the Freep report suggests Mullin was directed to resign from the those boards and refused that direct order. Also--you can't make this up--she was "walking around the airport" with then-Wayne County CIO Tahir Kazmi. Now, Kazmi actually is a dirtbag. He pleaded guilty to bribery in this summer. But really, that's all they had?
A maybe illegal contract (no charges filed) with the county, a dust-up over a couple off-hours boards, and being seen in public with a guy later revealed to be dirty? No wonder the Airport Authority wanted to keep their "cause" secret.
If that's the best cause I could manufacture, I'd be embarrassed too. -- JTW
