Jail was a real possibility for Taylor mayor Jeffrey Lamarand Friday.

If the mayor had failed to follow  a judge's order to accept an $8.1 million federal grant that would bring back 32 laid off firefighters,  he expected to be held in contempt.

But WDIV-TV reports Lamarand says he obtained a concession from firefighters, saving the city $1.2 million.

With that understanding, he'll now accept a federal grant allowing Taylor to bring back 34 laid off firefighters.

The crisis isn't over.  Lamarand will still have to appear before a judge Friday at 1 p.m.
