Paul Monchnik
A suspect in the murder of a 91-year-old man is in custody Tuesday, Tom Greenwood writes in The Detroit News reports.
The suspect, who turned himself in, is 17 years old, according to WXYZ.
Police were aggressively searching for the suspect after Monday's murder of Paul Monchnik, described by family members as nearly deaf. He was found inside his burning home in the 20500 block of Bentler in northwest Detroit.
The victim's van was recovered in Detroit, Chief James Craig said at a five-minute news briefing.
Authorities believe he was beaten, killed and then doused with gasoline and set afire.
Police searched a house next to victim's home early Tuesday, Greenwood reports, and found evidence related to the murder.
