Detroit's mayor has a three-month research paper assignment from the White House, in effect.,
Here's how Mike Duggan puts it after a Friday lunch with President Obama in East Lansing, according to Paul Egan of the Free Press:
“I’ve got some work to do. I laid out some very specific economic strategies . . . [and] he was very interested. He asked me to flesh out some details.”
Obama wants “a formal proposal in 90 days” for creating Detroit jobs, Duggan says.
The mayor is invited to a White House event next Thursday to discuss job opportunities for young people.
