Update: A Farmington Hills girl is reunited with her pup, according to the Free Press.
Hannah Wise said it was “one of the happiest days of my life,” according to a statement relayed by her mom, Adrienne Lenhoff.
November 19: If the allegations by Hannah Wise, a Farmington Hills ten-year-old, are true, her ex-stepdad must be employee of the month at the jerk store.
The Oakland Press: After [Wise's mother Adrienne] Lenhoff and [Mitchell] Rechter broke up in April of this year, they moved out of his home. They left their tea cup poodle Mystery with him as they moved their things into their new home. But Wise said when she called Rechter to get her dog back, he would not answer or return her calls.
Rechter’s lawyer Jonathan Jones responded to the complaint, saying, according to the Oakland County Clerk’s Office, “The plaintiff abandoned the dog, gave it to the defendant to take care of, knowing he wanted to care for the dog, and took another dog with her when she left.”
"It is sad and unfortunate that it had to come to litigation," Lenhoff, owner of a marketing and public relations agency, posts Tuesday morning on Facebook shortly after a snapshot of Mystery (above) became her profile photo.
As for Rechter, it's like, sure, you're probably sick of your ex's BS -- who hasn't been there, amirite? -- and want to stick to her anyway you can, but keeping her daughter's dog? It's a little girl's dog. Given to her by her grandparents after her other dog died of cancer. Come on, bro.
