Livernois Avenue shoppers and northwest Detroiters get a new pizza destination Friday.
A restaurant with a wordy name -- The Avenue, an International Kitchen -- is having a 16-hour opening splash until midnight at Livernois and 7 MIle, alongside the Sherwood Forest neighborhood and near Palmer Woods.

Metro Times dining editor Serena Maria Daniels serves details:
The festivities will start [at 8 a.m.] with the spot's breakfast pizza, with radio personality Angie Starr of 105.9FM hosting, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a nighttime party featuring artists from Jupyter’s Galaxy. . . .
[The Avenue] specializes in pizza, subs, corned beef, tacos and more.
It's owned by Gary Sheffield, his son Vincent and Elon Brown, a 20-year-old hip-hop producer and lifelong Detroiter who uses the name Jupyter.
They add to an expanding destination for neighborhood dining, Daniels notes:
The eatery is one of many new developments taking shape on the iconic Avenue of Fashion, that stretch of Livernois between Seven and Eight Mile roads, which in addition to its number of kitschy boutiques has become increasingly known as a dining destination.
At 19163 Livernois (map below), The Avenue is a block and a half south of Kuzzo's Chicken & Waffles, the instant hit that former Detroit Lions player Ron Bartell introduced in January 2015. Another neighbor is 1917 American Bistro, started in 2009 by Katrina and Don Studvent.
But wait, there's more:
- The fourth location of Bucharest Grill, reportedly coming to Livernois three blocks north of the pizza place.
- A sliders restaurant called Slyde is open at at 19350 Livernois.
