Two polls. Two different results.
Nonetheless, two polls released Tuesday show that Mitt Romney, the east coast man who has been playing up his Michigan roots, has been closing the gap in the state with President Obama.
The Detroit News reports that a survey by Mitchell Research & Communications showed the race is a statistical dead heat, with Romney leading Obama 45 to 44. Last month, it showed Obama in front by a point.
But a poll by Rasmussen gave the edge to Obama, 48 percent to 42 percent. Last month, Obama was leading in that poll 50 to 42.
"Mitt Romney's home state continues to look as though it is going to be a battleground state this year," said Steve Mitchell of Mitchell Research & Communications, according to the News.
