The Cheesecake Factory, which has a loyal fan base around the county, and whose owner has roots in Detroit, is finally coming home, Crain's Detroit Business reports.

Nathan Skid of Crain's reports that the Calabasas Hills, Calif. restaurant chain, which serves big portions of food and cheesecake and other desserts, plans to open an eatery at the Twelve Oaks Mall.

The restaurant will seat 225 customers and an additional 60 on a patio. No date has been given as to when the restaurant will open.

"Having grown up in Detroit and watched my parents start their cheesecake business here in the 1950s, opening a Cheesecake Factory at Twelve Oaks feels like a true homecoming," David Overton, founder and CEO of The Cheesecake Factory Inc., said in a release, according to Crain's.

The business began with parents  Oscar and Evelyn Overton, who opened a bakery in Detroit in the 1940s.

The company website goes on to tell the story:

Always known as an excellent cook, Evelyn created her Original Cheesecake recipe that everyone loved. By the late 1940's, she opened a small cheesecake shop in Detroit. In order to raise her two small children, David and Renee, Evelyn chose to put off her dream and gave up the shop. She moved her baking to a kitchen in her basement and continued to supply cakes to several of the best local restaurants.

In 1972, with their children grown, Evelyn and Oscar, now in their early 50's, decided to move their cheesecake business to Los Angeles. Finding that Los Angeles loved their cheesecakes as much as Detroit, their reputation and sales grew, creating a need for a larger bakery.
