As Detroiters we certainly aren't above being a little provincial, pointing out the Detroit connections to some big awards ceremony.
Well, here we go.
The Detroit Free Press points out that actor J.K. Simmons, who grew up in metro Detroit, got the award for Best Supporting in a Drama Sunday night at the Golden for his role in the movie "Whiplash."
And actor Jeffrey Tambor, a former Wayne State theater student, won an award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Maura Pfefferman, a transgender woman. in "Transparent."
